Monday, July 25, 2016 Monday Night, Quint 1 (Allegheny County Truck 192) was dispatched on the first alarm assignment for a dwelling fire on Chestnut Street in Turtle Creek. Units from Turtle Creek, Wilmerding, Pitcairn, North Versailles, and Wilkins Township were also alerted on the first alarm. TCFD Engine 283 arrived to find smoke showing and a fire in an upstairs bedroom. Quint 1 met Engine 283 nose to nose at the front of the house. Due to overhead wires, street placement was not feasible. The Quint took the front lawn and set up for roof operations. The Quint's manpower split, with an inside crew assisting with fire extinguishment and overhaul, while the outside crew threw ground ladders, accessed the roof via the aerial ladder, and performed vertical ventilation. The fire was quickly controlled. Great job to all companies operating on the scene.
